1. WHO WE ARE
Pixelverse Academy (the app and this website) is run by Pixelverse Academy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17478121). In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Pixelverse Academy Ltd, and “you” means the person using the app or this website, or the parent or carer using it with their child.
Email: info@pixelverse-academy.com
Registered office and postal address: 43 Princess Street, Winsford, Cheshire, CW7 3EJ
More ways to reach us are on our contact page.
2. AGREEING TO THESE TERMS
By using the app or this website, you agree to these terms. If you're a parent or carer, you agree to them for your child as well, and you're responsible for how your child uses the app.
The app is made for children aged 7–11, used with a parent or carer. Only adults aged 18 or over can create a cloud backup account or subscribe to Pixelverse Plus.
Our privacy notice explains how we look after personal data, and our refund policy is part of these terms.
3. THE FREE APP
- The app is free to use in a web browser, with no account needed and no adverts.
- Children can't spend real money in the app. Star Coins, stars and items in the game are earned by learning and can never be bought with real money.
- Progress is saved on the device. If the browser's data is cleared or the device is lost, progress that isn't in cloud backup is gone, and we can't recover it.
- We keep improving the app, so missions, questions and features change over time. When we change content, we take care not to take away what a child has already earned.
4. CLOUD BACKUP ACCOUNTS
- Cloud backup is optional and is set up by a parent or carer from the Parent Zone.
- Please keep your password safe and don't share the account outside your family. If you think someone else has used it, change your password and tell us.
- You can delete your backup account at any time from the Parent Zone. If you have Pixelverse Plus, cancel it first, so you aren't charged again. The privacy notice explains what that removes.
5. PIXELVERSE PLUS
How to subscribe. In the app, open the Parent Zone (behind your parent code) and choose Pixelverse Plus. Plus belongs to your family's cloud backup account, so it works on every device you sign in on.
What it is
Pixelverse Plus is an optional subscription for parents and carers that adds extras to the free app: a weekly progress report by email, more detailed insights into your child's progress, certificates when your child masters a region or a planet, a focus you choose for your child's missions, step-by-step working in hints, a monthly top-up of streak freezes, and more explorer profiles on one device. The free app stays free.
Price
£4.99 a month, or £39.99 a year. Prices are in pounds and include VAT. One subscription covers up to four children in your family. You'll see the exact price before you pay. If you buy from outside the UK, Paddle may show the price in your own currency with your local taxes.
Founding price
The first 100 families to subscribe pay a founding price: 25% less than the usual price, which today is £3.74 a month or £29.99 a year (including VAT). While founding places are left, the app shows the founding price and how many places remain, and the checkout shows the price you'll pay before you pay anything. A family takes a place when its subscription starts, including a free trial, even if it's cancelled during the trial.
The founding price stays on your subscription for as long as it carries on, including every renewal. If your subscription ends (you cancel and the paid-for time runs out, or after a full refund) and you subscribe again later, the new subscription is at the usual price unless founding places are still left.
Free trial
A new subscription starts with a 14-day free trial, and nothing is charged during it. We'll email you a reminder at least three days before the trial ends, saying when you'll be charged, how much, and how to cancel. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing. If you don't, your first payment is taken when the trial ends and your subscription carries on. There's one free trial per family.
Renewing
Plus renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and the payment for the next month or year is taken then, until you cancel. On the yearly plan, we'll email you a reminder before each renewal, with the date, the amount and how to cancel.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time: through Paddle (the link in your receipt email, or paddle.net), or by emailing us. Plus carries on until the end of the month or year you've already paid for, then stops, and you won't be charged again.
When Plus ends
Your child keeps playing the free app. Nothing they've earned in the game (their progress, stars, coins and items) is taken away; only the Plus extras stop. If you have more than one explorer on a device, the one added first stays open and the others are locked: kept safe, not deleted, and opened again if you subscribe again. If the open explorer is deleted, the next one in the order they were added becomes the open one.
Price changes
If we change the price, we'll email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, so you can cancel first if you'd like. A price change never applies to a month or year you've already paid for.
Refunds
You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first payment, or within 14 days of a yearly renewal. Monthly renewals aren't refunded, but you can cancel at any time. Our refund policy explains how.
Children
Only a parent or carer aged 18 or over may subscribe. Children never see an offer for Plus in the app.
6. PAYMENTS THROUGH PADDLE
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders.
That means when you subscribe, you buy Pixelverse Plus from Paddle. Paying, billing, tax, renewals, cancelling and refunds are covered by Paddle's Buyer Terms, and if these terms and Paddle's say different things about any of those, Paddle's apply. Your receipt and your bank statement will show the payment as made to Paddle.
Paddle takes your payment details; we never see your full card number. We remain responsible to you for Pixelverse Plus itself: what it does and how well it works.
7. USING THE APP FAIRLY
Please don't:
- try to get into another family's account or data, or test our security without our permission;
- copy, sell or republish the app or its questions, lessons, characters or art, or use them to build another product, including training AI models;
- interfere with the app or this website, or collect content from them with automated tools;
- put a child's surname, address, school or other personal details into a profile name or a feedback note.
8. WHO OWNS WHAT
The app, this website and everything in them (the questions, lessons, characters including Professor Pixel, art, music and code) belong to Pixelverse Academy Ltd or to the people who license them to us. You may use them for learning at home or in a classroom, but not to make money.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Pixelverse Academy without paying you for them.
9. KEEPING THE APP RUNNING
We work hard to keep the app available and working well, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted or have mistakes in it. Sometimes we'll need to pause it for maintenance or updates, and some features need an internet connection.
If we make a change that significantly reduces what Pixelverse Plus includes, we'll tell subscribers first. You can then cancel and get a refund for the unused part of the month or year you've paid for. If we ever stop offering Plus, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and refund any unused part of a payment.
10. SUSPENDING OR CLOSING AN ACCOUNT
We may suspend or close a cloud backup account or a Plus subscription that's used to break these terms or the law, or to harm the app or other families. Unless it's urgent, or the law doesn't allow it, we'll tell you first and explain why. If we close a Plus subscription when you haven't broken these terms, we'll refund the unused part.
You can stop using the app whenever you like, and delete your backup account from the Parent Zone (cancelling Pixelverse Plus first, if you have it).
11. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU
- Pixelverse Academy supports learning alongside school. It doesn't replace teaching, and we can't promise particular results.
- If we break these terms or don't use reasonable care and skill, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable.
- The app is for family and educational use. We're not responsible for any business losses.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law doesn't allow it, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Your legal rights
Under UK law, digital content and services must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and provided with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. Citizens Advice can tell you more about them.
12. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms, for example when the law changes or when we change Pixelverse Plus. The version number and date at the top will always tell you which version you're reading. If a change significantly affects Plus subscribers, we'll email you before it applies, and you can cancel.
13. LAW AND DISPUTES
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
If something goes wrong, please tell us first at info@pixelverse-academy.com and we'll do our best to put it right. For a billing problem, Paddle can help too, at paddle.net.
